Our Broken Bridges

Updated: Dec 5, 2023

Hello everyone, I hope you all are having an amazing day! I am sharing with you all a new poem post. This poem is about not allowing someone to misjudge you. It's about someone who tried to learn from their mistakes but keeps pushing you until you react. It has a dark and sort of evil theme throughout the poem and is perfect for this spooky season! I hope you all enjoy reading this poem!

Our Broken Bridges

You cross me once,

That’s okay.

You cross me twice,

You should’ve learned the first time.

You cross me three times,

You just made the worst decision of your life.

You may be able to stab me in the back

And feel like you got away with it,

But I’ll take that same knife and

Dig into you harder and turn it as you try to apologize to me.

Sure, I gave you more than one chance,

But that doesn’t mean you take advantage of it.

You’ll bite your tongue as I speak down to you like you did with me.

You’ll scream in agony as I push you back harder.

You’ll beg me for another chance,

But I know you’ll never change.

You’ll cry when you lose me,

But won’t regret what you said to me.

You try to get even,

But that only gets you so far.

You try to play at my own game,

But you have to understand the rules first.

Instead, you became two-faced

Yet, you still act like a clown.

I mock your every move

While you try to interpret me.

You begin to play nice and be friendly,

But nothing pisses me off more than that.

You make up stories to impress me,

But I also wasn’t born yesterday.

You lie straight to my face, but

Try to cover it with your silly laugh.

You talk about me behind my back and

I’ll pretend I didn’t hear ringing in my ears.

You’ll consume me we’re friends,

But in reality, I’ll never trust you.

You show affection when you see me

But never dare to communicate with me.

Your eyes lie to me,

But you think your kind words are enough to fix us.

Once you cross me,

You won’t ever be important to me again.

So, you’ll do everything in your power to gain our trust back,

But once you break that trust it can never be repaired.

Sadly, I am used to people backstabbing me.

It’s almost my sixth sense.

I know when you are sincere and when you are not.

I know when you are lying and when you want to tell the truth.

I’ve played this game many times before.

I may have lost some rounds,

But at least I have learned.

Unlike someone who begs to bend the rules.

You don’t play fair

So, why should I?

Why do you get offended when I bark back?

You do it to me, so we’re even, right?

No, you want to dig a little deeper.

You want to reveal my weaknesses for the whole world to see,

But the only person that cares is you.

Just because I show you my weaknesses doesn’t mean I am strong without them.

You’ll push boundaries that were off limit to you

Hoping, you will gain some sort of recognition.

Something that will show you,

I’m not what it seems.

But that doesn’t matter to me.

I am that way because of you.

Here’s my tip for your next friend:

If you want to ruin a friendship,

Don’t even try, just leave.

You’ll do yourself worse than what you have done with me.

Sure, someone may tolerate your behavior but just know

I’ll be the inside voice telling you to push them harder.

Thank you all very much for reading this poem! I hope you all enjoyed it and hope it inspires you all to take some time and simply write about your feelings or day! I have more posts planned for this month and I cannot wait to share them with you all! Also, I have an entire 12-month calendar spread that is undated and customizable as well as two-word searches perfect for the Halloween season! I hope you all have a great day, and I will see you all in the next post!
